On Sunday 8th July 2007 the village of Burham welcomed the Tour de France peloton and its accompanying entourage as it passed through the village on the London ~ Canterbury first stage (known as "le Grand Départ") of the world-famous race. The village held a Fun Day that afternoon to celebrate the occasion.
