BURHAM PARISH COUNCIL

DECEMBER 2011 NEWSLETTER

The skate ramp MK II, phase A, has now been completed. We would like to portray our thanks to Sara Fletcher, our lead professional, on the project, Wheelscape, the designers and installers of the new ramp and all the funders which include Community Spaces, Trenport, Kent Police via the Property fund, KCC and TMBC.

The grand launch/opening took place on Sat 12 November. The day went very well indeed.  The weather was kind(ish) and the ramp did finally dry out.  The attendance exceeded all expectations from our local MP, Tracey Crouch, TMBC cabinet members, Peter Homewood , our KCC Member,  representation from the funders and Wheelscape, the specialist skaters/trainers from Rubicon, members of the local community, from toddlers to the more maturer age group and of course members from the Parish Council - myself included. At a guess, the attendance numbers exceeded 150. Our very own Dave Davis, the Deputy Mayor officially cut the ribbon to formally open the ramp.  I think that everyone will agree that the day went exceptionally well.

Training sessions at the ramp have been booked from April next year with professional trainers. I’ll keep you posted on the dates and times etc.

We have been advised that changes within Kent Police took place on 17 November 2011. Unfortunately, PC Grantham was moved to a different post. PCSO Stoner remains in place until at least March 2012. Whilst no direct replacement is on the cards for PC Grantham, we have been advised that a team of dedicated officers would be covering Burham and the local area.

The speed indicator devices are hopefully still in the pipe-line. We are awaiting further information from Kent Highway Services.

The new Christmas tree has been planted in the grassed area by Whitehouse Crescent.  Headlands Garden Services donated the tree and also will be maintaining the tree for the first year on a free of charge basis.  Hopefully, allowing the tree to establish, so that another will not need to be planted this time next year.

Finally, we would like to wish all our residents a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!!
